CMEC Members meet with British Ambassador to Iran

CMEC hosted a parliamentary lunch with the new British Ambassador to Tehran, Simon Gass CMG. The lunch was attended by Conservative MPs, Dr Liam Fox MP, Shadow Security of State for Defence, Brooks Newmark MP, Opposition Whip for Foreign Affairs and Richard Spring MP, Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party and Hugh Robertson MP, CMEC Treasurer and Shadow Sports & Olympics Minister.

Simon Gass briefed the CMEC members on the events that unfolded in the aftermath of the Presidential elections, including the situation for locally employed British Embassy staff that were detained over the summer. He commented on Iran's opposition 'Green Movement', the country's relationship with its neighbours, the situation in Yemen and answered questions on the nuclear issue.
